Conference Sunday

Each year our church holds a Semi-Annual World General Conference. It is broadcast directly from The Conference Center in Salt Lake City. The Prophet of the Lord, Apostles, and other church leaders speak to us and give us their inspired messages.

We have the option of going to Salt Lake City to watch it in person, going to our local church building, watch it on the internet, or, if we are lucky enough, watch it on TV. For years we were able to watch all of the sessions on TV at home. However, for the last several years we have had to watch it on the internet. This year we get to watch it directly on the TV. Thank you Time Warner Cable for finally realizing that there are a lot of LDS members of the church in your viewing area. Thank you for letting us watch it live this year rather than broadcasting it a week later when we don't have time to watch it.

We have a conference tradition. Karen gets up on Sunday morning and makes cinnamon rolls from scratch. This may seem like silly tradition but it's something that we have looked forward to for years. This year was no different. I love it when she makes those. It's just not conference without it. It's also a day when we don't have to get dressed up to go to church.

We look forward to watching conference as it gives us a chance to listen to our church leaders with messages that seem geared directly to each one of us. Some might balk at the thought of sitting through 8 hours of talks in such a short period of time but for us it is a spiritual time, especially if we prepare ourselves for it.

If you want to watch the replay of any of the sessions to see what I'm talking about you can go to this link. http://lds.org/general-conference/sessions?lang=eng

As we watch conference our cat, Goosie, likes to lay on us. She does this anytime we sit down on the couch, chair, bed, etc. I have included a photo of our cat doing this. It makes it hard to do anything else.
